To make your own Ultimate Beach Party you’ll need the following materials, most of which are available from your nearest building supplies or hardware store:

• Metal futon frame

We found ours on the side of the road a while back and used part of it last year in our Ultimate Breakfast Bar. We used the remainder as the roof of our Tiki bar. Moving days and thrift stores are great for sourcing cast-off bed frames and other metal items that can be re-used and recycled.

• Lumber

Cedar 2-by-4’s, 2-by-6’s, 1-by decking planks to build the structure, the bar-top and support the roof. We didn’t use a lot of lumber on this project though if you plan on building something larger and more ambitious, we suggest you use the lumber calculator on the free Brojects App. It’s a great help when trying to figure out how much lumber is needed for a project.

• Hardware

Nuts, bolts and screws.

• Palm fronds or banana leaves

The fronds will act as the roof for the Tiki bar. You’ll want enough to provide sufficient coverage and shade.

• Pavers

Pavers, patio stones, or wall blocks for surrounding our new fire pit. We’re always looking for new ways to improve our previous builds — in the case, we sought to upgrade last year’s Ultimate Fire Pit.

• LePage PL Premium

We used several tubes of LePage PL Premium construction adhesive to glue down the paving stones in our fire pit.

• Perforated steel sign post

Also known as punched steel posts, hopefully you’ve still got some left over from building the Ultimate Swim-Up Bar, right?.

• Rotisserie spit rod

You can source these from the barbecue section of your local building supply store but if you really wanted to go DIY on this, you could try using stainless steel threaded rod.

• Cordless drill

Who needs single-purpose kitchen gadgets like rotisserie motors when all you need is a Makita cordless drill!?! Plus, they also make a great hand mixers for whipping up lunch.
